The King’s Centre for Military Health Research (KCMHR) are looking for participants to take part in a study on the lifestyle behaviours of those in a relationship with military personnel and veterans.

What is the study about?

Funded by Forces in Mind Trust (FiMT), the LIFE-Q study (Lifestyle Influences of Military Personnel and Veterans: A Qualitative Study) aims to understand a range of lifestyle behaviours among military and veteran spouses and partners.

Lifestyle behaviours – such as alcohol use, eating, exercise, smoking/vaping, socialising - shape our lives in a multitude of ways. They can impact our health and wellbeing, the people around us, our futures and our sense of self.

The team is interested in building a picture of what spouses/partners feel is impacting their lifestyles, whether this is family life, the military, work, money and/or personal choice, and to learn how they feel about this.

What does the study involve and how do I find out more?

Through online weekly diaries (over 4-6 weeks) and in-depth interviews, the team are talking to spouses/partners of any gender and sexuality.

So far, there has been a strong response from the partners of Officers, meaning the research is now focused on people whose serving/ex-serving partner is/was no higher than a Junior Non-Comissioned Officer (NCO) or equivalent.

You can also take part if:

·         You drink alcohol at least twice a month

·         You have not served in the military yourself

·         You live in the UK

·         You are not currently pregnant or breastfeeding

·         Your partner is serving as a regular OR;

·         Your partner has left service within the last 5 years

Please contact the team on [email protected] if you have any questions.
